The following lessons will make so much more sense if you can read notes on a treble-clef staff. You don't need to be fluent enough to sight-read stuff on your instrument, but you need to know a C or a G or an A-flat when you see them.

The more fluent you can be the better, but even if you're still relying on the mnemonics, that's OK.

• Play through this drill - How'd you do? If you got an 80% or 90% then you're probably ready to move on. If not, then spend a little time with it until you're feeling a little more confident.
